Some wedding days are defined by the unexpected. Emma and Eli Grace's day was defined by something rarer, pure, uncontainable joy, and a whole lot of sunshine.
Troy, Alabama in July does not hold back, and neither did the sun on their wedding day. From the moment we started at First Baptist, the church where Emma and Eli Grace built so much of their story during college, to the celebration at The Emporium, the sky was completely clear and brilliantly bright. No clouds, no shade, no mercy from the heat. As a photographer, full sun all day is a puzzle you have to work around, and we did. But I kept my eye on the horizon, waiting for that moment I knew was coming.
And then golden hour arrived, and it was everything. After a day of harsh, unforgiving light, the sun finally softened into this gorgeous, warm glow that felt like it was made specifically for these two. We slipped away for portraits and the light was just quiet and beautiful in a way the whole day had been building toward. Those are the images I cannot wait to share with you.
But honestly? The light was the easy part to fall in love with. The harder thing to put into words is Emma and Eli Grace themselves. With nearly 300 guests filling the room, you might expect a couple to feel pulled in a hundred directions, and they were, but they wanted to talk to every single person there. Both of them come from big, loud, celebrating families, and the energy in that room was something I won't forget. Everyone there genuinely could not wait to watch these two get married. That kind of love from a crowd doesn't happen by accident. It happens when the people at the center of it are just genuinely, authentically good.
I came into this wedding knowing Emma through a college friend, a friend of a friend, really, which meant walking back into my college town and seeing familiar faces I hadn't seen in years. What I didn't expect was how quickly Emma and Eli Grace would feel like people I'd known all along. Their affection for each other was so natural and so sweet to be around all day. You couldn't manufacture that kind of happiness if you tried. They ended their night surrounded by everyone they love most, and I drove home with a full card and a full heart.
